Greetings Parent Group!

My name is Korin, and I am an Employment Consultant with Ability Employment Services. I work with individuals with disabilities to develop independence in their lives and assisting them on their employment journey. We are excited to now have an office located in Ellensburg after serving the Spokane region for 8 years and will be providing services to Ellensburg and Yakima Counties.

Ability provides a variety of services and are tailored to suit the needs of the individual we work with. Consultants join throughout the entire journey of preparing for, finding, obtaining employment, and maintaining their positions over time. Consultants “bridge the gap” between clients and employers to ensure that there is clear communication regarding expectations and responsibilities and to assist clients reach their employment goals allowing for greater independence.

Ability Employment Consultants are with clients throughout every step of the process to provide support, guidance, and to teach new skills while on the job in their active roles as employees. Consultants take the time to get to know clients to better know their interests, likes/dislikes, as well as where potential barriers arise so that they can match the client with an employer where they can be successful in their roles as employees. Working relationships are developed between the employer, the Consultant, the Client and their families/caregivers and through the process of working together clients can learn new skills, boost the morale of employees as well as the business they work for and ultimately are able to make positive advancement toward gaining greater personal independence.

Employment Consultants complete intakes and assessments to determine eligibility and to get to know the client and family/caregivers and assist the Client to create or update a resume, assist with job searches and applying for employment. Interview preparation is completed with the client so interviews are less nerve wracking, and in some cases the Consultant may even attend the interview with the client. Once employment is obtained, our Employment Consultants can regularly check in with the employer to ensure tasks are successfully being completed and discuss any areas which may need some attention. The Employment Consultant also regularly checks in with the client on the job to see that there are no issues pertaining to tasks and schedules and the ways they can assist if an issue were to arise. The Employment Consultant also strives to ensure there is clear communication between all parties, positive forward progression is being made, and when able new skills are being taught.

We would be happy to schedule a meeting to sit down and discuss our services in our offices with you and how we can potentially work with your son or daughter.
